About 75% of all greenhouse gas emissions from industry in the EU come from burning fossil fuels, primarily natural gas, for process heating. Almost 90% of that natural gas is imported, leaving European industry exposed to price volatility and supply disruptions. The EU’s Clean Industrial Deal recognizes this vulnerability and puts clean, affordable, and reliable energy for industry at the heart of European industrial policy. This policy momentum extends beyond the EU, with the UK, Norway, Switzerland and others pursuing similar frameworks.

For companies operating in Europe, this momentum creates favorable conditions for the deployment of renewable thermal solutions. Additionally, the switch to clean energy represents a unique opportunity to simultaneously cut emissions, reduce energy costs, and build more resilient supply chains.

What is the RTC doing?

The RTC convenes Members and Solutions Providers with operations or interests in Europe in working groups and other events to share project lessons and track policy developments across the region. The RTC also publishes public case studies and organizes webinars covering issues specific to the region. These practical resources help thermal energy users capitalize on opportunities the European market presents.

How to get involved:

RTC workstreams are developed with and informed by our Members and Solutions Providers. We regularly convene focused working groups to collaborate on this work.
