Renewable Energy Facilities Real Property Tax

South Dakota offers a property tax incentive for electricity-producing renewable energy facilities with less than 5 MW of nameplate capacity. The incentive may not exceed either $50,000 or 70% of the assessed value of the property, whichever is greater. The tax exempts commercial geothermal facilities that do not produce electricity, limited to the first three continuous years.
