Iowa offers a sales tax exemption for solar, wind, and hydroelectric devices. The exemption applies to up to 100% of the sales tax. For solar devices, the exemption does not cover batteries or other storage units, safety equipment such as fencing, or materials used to manufacture, install, or construct solar energy equipment.
