The Massachusetts Renewable Energy Trust Fund is aimed at promoting the increased availability, use, and affordability of renewable energy by funding research, design, and evaluation of pilots to promote energy innovation. Technologies that are eligible for funds include solar thermal, geothermal heating and cooling projects, biomass thermal, and storage and conversion technologies. The fund can make grants or contracts, give loans, pursue equity investments, give energy production credits, bill credits or rebates to customers, or provide financial or debt service obligation assistance.
