The Indiana Department of Local Government Finance administers a property tax deduction that includes geothermal, solar, wind, and hydroelectric. Thermal heating and cooling systems using solar or geothermal energy also qualify. Applications must be completed by December 31 annually. Taxpayers do not need to reapply for deductions after approval unless the property is sold or the title is changed.
