Renewables and Efficiency in State Facilities & Operations

Section 196-9 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes directs state agencies to install solar water heating systems in buildings and facilities where it is cost-effective based on the life cycle costs compared to conventional water heating systems. If solar thermal systems are not found to be cost-effective, additional analysis will be conducted to evaluate the life cycle cost-benefit of using solar water heating for pre-heating water with heat recovery.
