Florida’s Innovation Incentive Program, described in Title XIX, Chapter 288.1089 of the 2022 Florida Statutes, describes the eligibility criteria for businesses to receive awards from the state for promoting high-value research and development, innovation, and alternative and renewable energy projects. Housed under the Department of Economic Opportunity, this program defines “alternative and renewable energy” as electrical, mechanical, or thermal energy produced using either ethanol, biodiesel, biomass, biogas, hydrogen fuel cells, hydrogen, solar, or geothermal, among others.
