The Clean Hydrogen Electrolysis program was introduced in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) of 2021. The funding opportunity, available to industry partners in the form of cooperative agreements with the Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, allocates $1 billion to establish a research, development, demonstration, and deployment program. The program aims to commercialize the use of electrolyzers to create clean hydrogen through improved efficiency, increased durability, and reduced cost.
