The Biotechnology Technologies Office (BTO) within the Department of Energy (DOE), with national lab partners, provides various online tools that analyze data to aid in decision-making. Tools include the Bioenergy Knowledge Discovery Framework, which provides industry, policymakers, and others with spatially organized information on the economic and environmental impacts of various biomass feedstock developments; the BioFuels Atlas, which illustrates the locations of American feedstocks, bioenergy plants, and other alternative fuels stations in order to determine potential biofuel production capacity; and the Greenhouse gases, Regulated Emissions, and Energy Use in Transportation (GREET) Model, which performs life-cycle analysis to evaluate energy and emission impacts of transportation technologies and fuels, among others.
