This program, added to California’s 2022-2023 budget, offers a total of $525 million to fund technological advancements that will help meet GHG reduction goals and increase climate resilience. “Clean energy generation and storage” is referenced in a non-exhaustive list of example technologies, and there is a strong emphasis on helping technologies transition from research to commercialization. In general, projects will be prioritized based on several criteria, the most important of which include decarbonization and climate resiliency potential, ability to attract federal funding, and lack of funding through other existing programs. Because the program is new, robust guidelines have not yet been developed, but interested parties can directly contact the program administrators.
