Texas has a set of energy efficiency goals and requirements for different state entities. political subdivisions, higher education institutions, and state agencies are required to decrease electricity use by 5% annually for 7 years from the 2019 baseline and implement all energy efficiency measures that reduce electricity consumption where cost-effective. When planning construction or renovation projects, state entities must consider energy efficient architecture as well as alternative energy systems for heating, cooling, lighting, and electrical needs.
