Ohio allows local governments to create special energy improvement districts in which property owners can access PACE financing for energy efficiency and renewable energy improvement projects. This financing can be used for, biomass, geothermal, gasification, and energy efficiency projects. Loans are paid back by property owners agree through a special assessment on the property for a term up to 30 years.
