New York offers a 100% tax exemption from state sales and use tax for commercial solar energy systems equipment and the service of installing such systems. Municipalities are also able to make this same exemption applicable to local sales and use tax. Municipalities with a population of 1 million or more must pass a resolution to create this exemption.
