Renewable Energy Standard

Michigan’s Renewable Energy Standard requires utilities, electric cooperatives, municipal electric utilities and alternative retail suppliers to derive 60% of retail energy sales from renewable sources and 100% of retail electricity sales from clean energy sources by 2040. Eligible technologies include geothermal, solar thermal, biomass; biogas, beneficial electrification equipment, and more. Obligated entities can use Renewable Energy Credits to achieve compliance.
