Efficiency Maine offers funding for manufacturer efficiency projects that reduce the use of natural gas, oil, biomass, and other fuels and with an additional 10% cost share bonus incentive for beneficial electrification and heat recovery projects. Eligible manufacturing facilities include those meeting the North American Industry Classification System codes 31 through 33. Eligible projects must increase thermal energy efficiency. Funding opportunities and regulations are as follows: $100 per MMBtu of annual validated fuel savings; 60% of the net project cost for retrofits of existing equipment; 80% of the net incremental cost (as measured between the efficient alternative and the industry standard) for new construction or projects that are deemed a ‘lost opportunity’ by the Trust; and an additional 10% cost share for eligible beneficial electrification and heat recovery projects.
