Maryland allows local governments to establish a tax credit for property taxes for buildings with silver rating according to the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED standards or better, or have another comparable green building rating that is recognized by the state. The scope and terms of this credit are determined by each locality. Maryland also allows local governments to offer tax credits for property taxes for solar thermal, solar photovoltaics, and geothermal devices that provide temperature control or electricity generation. These credits are only available in participating municipalities.
