SUMMARY:Roundtable Discussion: Advancing State Policy Support for Renewable Thermal Decarbonization Pathways
DESCRIPTION:On April 24\, 2024\, the RTC convened a virtual roundtable discussion to discuss how state policy can enable renewable thermal decarbonization. The RTC shared information on state-level policy opportunities\, including research conducted by ENGIE Impact\, and discussed which policies can add the most value for large thermal energy users and solutions providers. The roundtable featured a panel conversation about balancing federal and state policy action in the face of uncertainty and a moderated discussion among all participants to identify high-priority opportunities. This event was open to all RTC Members and Solutions Providers. \nRead about the RTC’s recent policy activity. \nTo participate in future roundtables and help guide the RTC’s policy and advocacy efforts\, join the RTC.

SUMMARY:LinkedIn Live Fireside Chat: Decarbonizing Process Heat at California Dairies\, Inc. with Skyven Technologies
DESCRIPTION:On April 30\, 2024\, the RTC hosted a fireside chat on LinkedIn Live about our case study Decarbonizing Process Heat at California Dairies\, Inc. (CDI) with Skyven Technologies. \nCDI and Skyven completed a total of six decarbonization projects across CDI’s two largest facilities in 2023. The projects deployed three renewable thermal technologies: solar thermal systems\, smart steam traps\, and boiler heat recovery systems. Skyven and CDI expect the projects to avoid approximately 7\,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions and over 110\,000 MMBtu of natural gas consumption each year. \nChris Barnhill\, Director of Marketing at Skyven Technologies\, shared how the project started\, what it took to bring it to fruition\, key outcomes\, and lessons learned. \n  \nFill out the form below to watch the recording on LinkedIn:\nPlease enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form. Please enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form.Name *FirstLastEmail *Organization *Title *Would you like to receive occasional updates from the RTC?YesNoWatch the Recording

SUMMARY:LinkedIn Live: Chemical Sector Assessment Release Preview
DESCRIPTION:On June 17\, 2024\, the RTC streamed a session to LinkedIn Live previewing our upcoming Chemical Sector Assessment. Cihang Yuan\, Senior Program Officer at World Wildlife Fund\, and Caroline Narich\, Managing Director & Net Zero Strategy Lead at Accenture\, discussed the context and purpose of the assessment along with the key takeaways. \nThe chemical sector constitutes ~20% of U.S. industrial emissions. One-third of these emissions are attributed to the three key processes: 1) Steam Methane Reforming (SMR) and Haber Bosh to produce Ammonia\, 2) Steam Cracking to produce High Value Chemicals\, and 3) Steam Reforming (SMR) to produce Methanol. Demand from all three value chains is expected to grow significantly by 2050\, necessitating drastic changes to decarbonize the production processes. The RTC’s Chemical Sector Assessment identifies key decarbonization pathways to prioritize\, examines ways the implementation of solutions can benefit the communities they operate in\, and addresses the policies and regulations needed to support deployment. \nFill out the form below to watch the recording:\nPlease enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form. Please enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form.Name *FirstLastEmail *Organization *Title *Would you like to receive occasional updates from the RTC?YesNoWatch the Recording

SUMMARY:Case Study Webinar: Electrifying Industrial Process Heat
DESCRIPTION:On June 20\, 2024\, the RTC held a webinar exploring two case studies focused on decarbonizing process heat in the food and beverage sector with thermal energy storage and industrial heat pumps. \nIn the first case study\, speakers from Herkkumaa Oy and Elstor Oy discussed how installing a thermal energy storage system at Herkkumaa’s food manufacturing facility in Finland reduced its annual energy costs by $140\,000 and eliminated its process steam emissions. \nIn the second case study\, Piller Blowers & Compressors GmbH described how its mechanical vapor recompression (MVR) heat pump technology enabled Chivas Brothers\, the Scotch whisky business of Pernod Ricard\, to recover waste heat and electrify distillation at Glentauchers\, reducing its carbon emissions by 53%.

SUMMARY:Webinar: Chemical Sector Assessment
DESCRIPTION:On June 25\, 2024\, the RTC hosted an in-depth webinar unveiling our Chemical Sector Assessment\, supported by Accenture Development Partnerships. This report presents a streamlined roadmap for decarbonizing the chemical sector\, which contributes nearly 20% of overall U.S. industrial emissions. Focused on the three most emissions-intensive production processes — ammonia\, methanol\, and High-Value Chemicals (HCVs) — the assessment outlines how clean hydrogen\, waste-derived biomass\, and other low-carbon thermal technologies can reduce emissions by over 60% by 2050. Watch the webinar recording to hear a detailed exploration of the analysis and to hear the RTC’s recommendations for chemical companies\, their customers\, and policymakers looking to decarbonize this critical sector. \n  \nUse the form below to access the webinar recording:\nPlease enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form. Please enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form.Name *FirstLastEmail *Organization *Title *Would you like to receive occasional updates from the RTC?YesNoWatch the Recording \n

SUMMARY:LinkedIn Live: Utility Engagement Playbook Release Preview
DESCRIPTION:On December 3\, 2024\, the RTC previewed our Utility Engagement Playbook for Industrial Customers ahead of its planned release on December 11. Cihang Yuan\, Senior Program Officer at World Wildlife Fund\, and Melissa Whited\, Vice President at Synapse Energy Economics\, shared the context and purpose of the playbook along with the key takeaways. \nElectrification presents a high-impact\, near-term solution to enhance U.S. clean manufacturing and accelerate industrial decarbonization. For electric utilities\, this shift represents a major business opportunity. However\, for industrial customers\, access to electricity and its cost remain two significant barriers to the feasibility and economic viability of electrification projects. Our new Utility Engagement Playbook presents a menu of utility and policy interventions industrial customers could pursue in collaboration with utilities\, PUCs\, and state policymakers to address these challenges. \nFill out the form below to view the recording:\nPlease enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form. Please enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form.Name *FirstLastEmail *Organization *Title *Would you like to receive occasional updates from the RTC?YesNoWatch the Recording \n  \n\n\n\n\nRelated materials:\n\n\n\n\n\n RTC Utility Engagement Playbook: Addressing Power Sector Barriers to Electrification \n Blog post: RTC’s New Utility Engagement Handbook Identifies Win-Win Innovations \n Press release: New Playbook Evaluates Innovative Utility Solutions for Industrial Electrification \n Webinar Recording: RTC Utility Engagement Playbook for Industrial Customers
